The Komatsu PC460 excavator is equipped with the Komatsu SAA6D125E-5 engine, with a rated power of 257kW (350 horsepower), a displacement of 11.04L. It adopts high-pressure common rail fuel injection technology, turbocharging and intercooling technologies. The engine and the hydraulic system are optimally matched. At the rated speed of 1900 rpm, it can output strong power, with sufficient power reserve. It can still maintain stable output under heavy-load mining conditions and performs well in adapting to high-altitude environments.
1.Fuel Economy
Under standard operating conditions, the overall fuel consumption performance is excellent. Some users have reported that the hourly fuel consumption is 3-5 liters lower than that of similar competing products. Over the long term, significant savings in fuel costs can be achieved. The ECO mode is equipped and can automatically adjust the power output according to the operating conditions, further optimizing fuel efficiency.
2. Operating Performance
The digging force of the bucket is 278-295 kN (approximately 28,300-30,000 kgf), and the digging force of the boom is 233-258 kN (approximately 23,800-26,300 kgf). It falls within the medium to upper range in terms of performance among 46-ton class excavators. The standard bucket size is 2.1-2.8 m³ (2.8 m³ for the SE version). The single bucket has a large digging capacity, and in conjunction with the optimized hydraulic system, it exhibits balanced operational efficiency in earthwork, mining, and other working conditions.
3. Hydraulic System
The maximum flow rate of the main pump is approximately 722 L/min. The coordination of the compound actions is good, and the precision of micro-operation is relatively high. The rotation speed is about 9.1 rpm. The walking speed can be adjusted in three gears (5.5/4.0/3.0 km/h), and the operation cycle time is reasonable. The overall operation efficiency is competitive among the same level. Some users have reported that the operation is fast and powerful. Compared with the previous generation, the speed on flat ground and the efficiency of excavation operations have increased by more than 10%.
